Duke Arts Presents

Black Atlantic

March 26-31, 2018

This Spring, Duke Performances hosts its inaugural Black Atlantic festival, a six-day event in downtown Durham exploring the music of Africa and the diaspora through the Americas. In addition to the performances, the festival will feature a number of free public events, including a keynote, a pre-performance Bachata dance class, a discussion on the history of cultural exchange between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and a demonstration and conversation with participating artists Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo.
