Alonzo King LINES Ballet

Since 1982, choreographer Alonzo King has staked his contemporary ballet company, LINES Ballet, in the cultural vibrancy of San Francisco. Known for interdisciplinary collaborations with composers, musicians, and visual artists, King and LINES Ballet employ the classical ballet idiom in elegant choreographic compositions that explore the geometries of the natural world. This season, the company returns to Duke Performances after its 2010 residency with Jason Moran and the Bandwagon.

As the first residency installment in Duke Performances’ yearlong Ballet Futures thematic initiative, LINES Ballet will make visits to Duke classes as well as offer public movement workshops and conversations on topics related to the past, present, and future of ballet.
