Music in the Gardens: XOXOK

Wednesday, June 21, 2023 | 7:00 pm

Sarah P. Duke Gardens

Softly powerful vocals layered over captivating and skillful guitar playing are the defining characteristics of XOXOK’s “atmospheric soul music” – an expansive blend of soul and jazz. This soulscape is at once immersive and beguiling, enveloping the listener in a quiet intimacy made richer by thoughtful and occasionally wrenching lyrics. XOXOK was originally envisioned as a side project while creator Keenan Jenkins completed his Ph.D. at UNC Chapel Hill, but now, Carrboro-based XOXOK (Jenkins) is recognized as one of the Triangle’s most exciting new artists. Hailed by INDYWeek for his “restrained but resplendent vocal performance… and discreetly flashy guitar playing,” this live performance is not to be missed.
