Torry Bend, award-winning puppet artist and chair of Theater Studies at Duke, is joined by collaborator Howard L. Craft, Durham-based poet, playwright, and arts educator, for an in-depth discussion of Dreaming — their new theatrical work exploring the legacy of artist Winsor McCay and the problematic depictions of race in his famed early-20th century comic strip, Little Nemo in Slumberland. Moderated by JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell.
Wednesday, November 20, 12 PM

Following the conversation, attendees will be treated to a peek behind the curtain, joining Bend, Craft, and their team in the von der Heyden Studio Theater — just down the hall from the Ruby Lounge — for a firsthand look at the puppets and sets for the piece.
Dreaming will premiere in the von der Heyden Studio Theater on Friday, November 22 – Sunday, November 24. Tickets and info available HERE.
