In Conversation: Jason Moran

Friday, September 14, 2018 | 12:00 pm

The Pinhook

Due to the potential impacts of severe weather on the region, we have opted to cancel Jason Moran’s Arts & Context conversation on Friday, September 14 at The Pinhook. We hope that you will join us for future events in this lunchtime series, beginning with the Branford Marsalis conversation on Wednesday, October 3.

In this free lunchtime talk at The Pinhook in downtown Durham, trailblazing pianist, composer, bandleader, and 2010 MacArthur fellow Jason Moran sits down with Durham-based spoken word artist Dasan Ahanu for an intimate conversation covering Moran’s career and current projects.

Friday, September 14, 12-1 PM
The Pinhook
117 W. Main St.
Free and open to the public
Light lunch provided by Pie Pushers

Jason Moran will be performing with his trio, The Bandwagon, for two sets in The Rubenstein Arts Center’s von der Heyden Studio Theater on the evening of Thursday, September 13. Tickets and info available HERE. On Friday, September 14, Moran will bring Fats Waller Dance Party — his homage to the legendary Harlem jazz pianist — to Durham Fruit & Produce for an immersive evening of dance, song, and humor. Tickets and info available HERE.

Arts & Context is co-sponsored by the Forum for Scholars and Publics at Duke University, The Pinhook, and Pie Pushers.
