Calidore String Quartet: Chamber Music Master Class

Sunday, December 2, 2018 | 12:00 pm

Baldwin Auditorium

The members of Calidore String Quartet lead a chamber music master class with Duke student ensembles in Baldwin Auditorium at 12 PM on Sunday, December 2. Free and open to the public.

The Calidore String Quartet is one of the premier chamber ensembles in a generation of exciting new chamber talent. The vivacious quartet was hailed by Gramophone as the “epitome of confidence and finesse, engaged in a series of engrossing, sympathetic, and intense conversations.” Calidore will make its Durham debut on Saturday, December 1 with a pair of revered compositions by Prokofiev and Schumann, and a new commission for Pulitzer-winning North Carolinian Caroline Shaw entitled First Essay: Nimrod — an ode to the writing of Marilynne Robinson that reveals the intricate possibilities within a simple tune. Tickets and details are available HERE.
