A CONVERSATION WITH SHARA NOVA
at Beyù Caffè

Shara Nova (formerly Shara Worden), Detroit-based composer and guitarist, is the protean powerhouse behind the band My Brightest Diamond, “moving effortlessly between the worlds of indie rock and contemporary classical music” (The New York Times). This former child evangelist, operatically-trained singer, and one-time Sufjan Stevens protégé has released five albums in the past decade under the My Brightest Diamond moniker, all the while collaborating on the side with musical pathbreakers like David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, and The Decemberists.

At this special coffee chat at downtown Durham’s Beyù Caffè, Shara Nova joins Karen Strittmatter Galvin, New Music Raleigh co-curator and Assistant Concertmaster of the North Carolina Symphony, to discuss her career, her work across musical styles, and her activism through her music.

The following evening, on Friday, November 18, Shara Nova will perform with the innovative quartet So Percussion at Baldwin Auditorium on Duke’s East Campus. Full details and tickets available HERE.

On Saturday, November 19, Shara Nova and My Brightest Diamond will perform at Motorco Music Hall. Full details and tickets available HERE.

Thursday, November 17, 3 – 4:15 PM
Beyù Caffè, 341 West Main Street, Durham
Free & open to the public.

Presented in collaboration with Beyù Caffè.
