Important Announcement: Remainder of Duke Performances spring season cancelled

March 16, 2020

Dear Friends,

Due to precautionary measures related to COVID-19, Duke University has temporarily suspended on-campus classes and is postponing all events with an expected attendance of more than 50 people taking place both on- and off-campus.

Sadly, we must cancel all Duke Performances presentations, both on- and off-campus, for the remainder of our spring season, through May 16. We wish these changes weren’t necessary, but under the circumstances an aggressive course of action is justified to protect public and community health.

In particular, we are postponing our presentations of American Ballet Theatre scheduled Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, March 29. We plan to reschedule this engagement to a future date and will be in touch once our plans are confirmed.

We will also do our best to present in the future the other artists impacted by these cancellations.

The Duke University Box Office will issue refunds to patrons holding tickets for presentations through May 16. Tickets purchased with a credit card will be refunded to the card of purchase. If card of purchase is expired, refund will be issued via check. Tickets purchased via check or cash payment will receive a check reimbursement sent to the address on record. All refunds are expected to be completed within 8 weeks. Thanks for your patience as we work to expedite refunds.

For our ABT presentations, most affected ticket buyers who purchased using a credit card should see a credit appear on the charge card account used for purchase within the next 2-3 weeks. This automatic refund includes those that purchased tickets online or by phone with DPAC or Ticketmaster, or in person using a credit card at The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Ticket Center at DPAC. If you purchased with cash, please return to the Ticket Center to obtain a refund. For more information, please email DPAC at customerservice@dpacnc.com.

For our co-presentations of Zakir Hussain and Lila Downs with the Carolina Theatre of Durham on Thursday, April 16 and Tuesday, May 5, respectively, patrons who purchased tickets with a credit card will have those purchases refunded automatically. Patrons who purchased tickets with cash will be able to get a refund by returning their tickets to the Carolina Theatre of Durham Box Office (10AM-6PM Mon-Fri). The Duke University Box Office will issue refunds to all Duke student patrons for Zakir Hussain and Lila Downs.

We thank you for your support of Duke Performances and look forward to seeing you at our presentations in the future.

Until then we wish good health for you and your loved ones as we endure this unprecedented challenge.

With best wishes,
