This world premiere concert traces the history of Philly soul, audaciously combining a DJ, soul vocalists, and a live band. With a world-class line-up, the event brings the best of Philly to Durham.
In this forward-leaning history lesson internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, and composer King Britt calls together a full band of musical heavies featuring fierce Philly soul mavens Jaguar Wright and Lady Alma Horton. King brings his mixing skills and massive archive of musical knowledge to map the glorious soul story of his hometown.

King, who came to prominence as the DJ for the Grammy-winning Digable Planets, is known around the world for his remixes, productions, and dance floor skills. He originally introduced the Sylk130 Collective in the early ‘90s as the house band for his residency at Silk City, one of Philly’s most venerable clubs. Frequent Silk City guests in neo-soul’s salad days included Jill Scott, The Roots, and Erykah Badu.
