Tamango was born in French Guiana but met Hunter while performing on the Paris streets in the late 1980s. Now reunited, their Rhythm Mavericks project features Hunter playing his eight-string, bass/guitar hybrid and Tamango, who “one is tempted to call . . . the best dancer of any kind around” (NY Times), tapping with freewheeling grace.
