Join Maira Kalman and John Heginbotham for an hour of conversation modeled on Maira’s favorite morning ritual: the reading of obituaries over coffee. Coffee and cake provided by The Durham Hotel for all attendees free of charge.

Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite obits to share.

Maira Kalman is the author and illustrator of 18 children’s books as well as five books for adults. Her online columns for The New York Times were compiled into two volumes, The Principles of Uncertainty and The Pursuit of Happiness. She is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, including cover art and an upcoming illustrated column based on her travels to museums and libraries. mairakalman.com

John Heginbotham was a member of the Mark Morris Dance Group from 1998 to 2012. In 2011, he founded Dance Heginbotham, a Brooklyn-based performance group devoted to the presentation of his dance and theatrical work. He is also active as a freelance choreographer and educator; he is on the faculty of Dartmouth College and is a founding teacher of Dance for PD®. danceheginbotham.org
