Music in the Gardens: Birds of Chicago

Wednesday, July 5, 2017 | 7:00 pm

Sarah P. Duke Gardens

You’ve been warned: Birds of Chicago have been known to inspire romantic jealousy. Nearly two decades ago, JT Nero and Allison Russell began building parallel relationships — as musical collaborators and married partners. They now tour with their child and an evolving entourage of supporting players in tow. The core of their mix of soul, folk, and rock, however, remains those made-for-one-another harmonies, the same bit of kismet that animates songs detailing worry for the future and joy in the moment. On the road and off, they are, as Paste put it, an “Americana dream team.”
