Duke Arts Presents

Miami String Quartet + Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio

Saturday, November 7, 2009 | 8:00 pm

Reynolds Industries Theater

In this special evening of collaborative performance, the world-renowned KLR Trio take the stage with the Miami String Quartet, who play wtih “sweeping authority, fluency, and hushed poignancy” (Miami Herald).  The program is anchored by a new, CAS-commissioned piano septet from Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, the first woman to ever win the Pulitzer for music composition.

Note: due to a hand injury, Ivan Chan will be unable to perform his engagements with Miami String Quartet during November.  Benny Kim will be performing in his place.

“Everything one wants in a quartet: a rich, precisely balanced sound, a broad coloristic palette, real unity of interpretive purpose and seemingly unflagging energy.”
— New York Times

“The KLR Trio’s performances stand with the finest chamber groups of our time.”
— Miami Herald
