The world’s greatest Balkan brass band comes to Motorco Music Hall. Fanfare Ciocarlia, hailing from the Romanian village of Zece Prajini, is a twelve-piece maelstrom of trumpets, tuba, clarinets, saxophones, and percussion. Noting their range of influences, from Duke Ellington to Balkan wedding music, The Guardian raves, “They were faster and more frantic than any other brass ensemble I can think of, but never lost control, and constantly and ingeniously varied the repertoire.” As The Independent declares, “If it’s a fireball of brass you’re after, these are the men to call.”
This engagement at Motorco Music Hall replaces the originally-scheduled double-bill with Serbian brass band Boban Markovic Orkestar. That band has cancelled their tour, including their engagement at Duke Performances on Monday, April 11. Fanfare Ciocarlia are still scheduled to appear at Duke Performances on that day, with a venue change to Motorco Music Hall, and a new start time of 8 PM. Your initial concert tickets are good for entry.
