Living legend Mohammad-Reza Shajarian joins UNC Prof. Omid Safi for a special conversation in the Nelson Music Room. Amir Rezvani will translate the conversation.

On Saturday night at the Durham Performing Arts Center, Shajarian — with 17 musicians playing traditional instruments, some of his own design — reveals the magnificent ancient poetry of classical Persian songs.

Presented, in part, with support from Duke University’s Vice Provost for the Arts, the Persian Student Association and the Duke Islamic Studies Consortium (DISC).
